The Mother's Request, Monday, July 25, 2016

"Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom” (Matt.20:20-21)

We might see the mother of the sons of Zebedee as selfish here, but I see her as a caring and passionate mother. She makes a request any good mother would make of her children. She is a family woman. She shows concern for the future of her sons. She needs reward from the Lord Jesus who has taken her sons from her. She wants to have full package ensurance guaranteed for her children.

Let us think of the power of this request from the mother of Zebedee's sons. Do we wish the best for our family members? Do we care for them enough to seek for their good? Do we put our interest aside for the sake of family?

Open your bible for five minutes and read the passage above. Then close it again, and reflect. What do you think?
